Why a birthday flight is different from a birthday dinner
Forty-eight hours later, most people can't tell you what they ate on their birthday. A flight over the Manhattan skyline from 1,500 feet stays specific in memory for decades. People remember the angle of the Statue of Liberty, what the bridges looked like, the moment the runway came up at Linden. It's not better or worse than dinner — it's just a different category of memory.
What we offer for birthdays
The flight itself
Piper Cherokee PA-28 from Linden Airport (KLDJ). Certified flight instructor handling the airplane. Hudson River corridor route — Statue of Liberty, lower Manhattan, the Freedom Tower, Midtown skyline. About 45 minutes of air time for a standard Day Tour. Roughly an hour total at the airport.
Group size
The Cherokee seats four people including the pilot. So you can bring up to three guests, including the birthday person. No pooling with strangers — the flight is yours.
Day or night
Birthday afternoon flights are popular for the daytime views and easier scheduling. Sunset and evening flights are popular for the visual drama — the city in golden hour or fully lit at night.
Add-ons for the occasion
- Post-flight photos — we offer a photo package that captures the experience.
- Cake on the ramp — bring it; the ground crew will keep it cold during your flight.
- Gift card — if it's not your birthday but someone you know is having one, a gift card is the standard play.
How to plan a birthday flight
Book at least one week ahead, two weeks for weekend evening slots. Tell us it's a birthday when you book — we'll coordinate any specifics (photo, ramp arrangements, slot timing).
If you want the flight as a surprise for someone else, tell us. We can coordinate with you separately so the birthday person doesn't know what's happening until you're at the airport.
For groups of more than three
If you have more than three guests, we can run consecutive flights so everyone gets to go. Call (347) 727-0050 to plan the timing.
